I made this cowl to use up some stash yarn that has been sitting in my knitting bag for far too long. I had originally intended to use the pink variegated yarn to make a shirt for my daughter, but that plan went out the window over a year ago and the yarn was just sitting in my yarn bag, taunting me.
Cowls and scarves are great to make. They work up quickly and tend to keep my hands and mind occupied long enough for me to relax at the end of a stressful day.
I found this pattern over at Rescued Paw Designs and I made a few slight tweaks (I used a smaller crochet hook and made my stitches a bit tighter). However, I think the pattern is perfect the way it was written.
